Funding and service pathways can feel complicated. This page shares information to help families explore possible options and prepare questions. Eligibility, approvals and coverage are determined by the relevant funding program. We also work with families who pay privately. Please contact us to discuss which funding arrangements Bloom can currently accept.

Resources and Funding

Jordan’s Principle

Our team has experience supporting Jordan’s Principle applications with descriptions of support needs, service plans and supporting documentation within our scope. We can also collaborate with families and their chosen Indigenous service providers to coordinate information for an application. Funding decisions are made by the responsible program.

FOR OKANAGAN FAMILIES

What the 2027 funding
changes mean for your family

BC is moving to a new, needs-based way of funding support for children and youth. Here is what we understand so far, in plain language.

● NOW

Nothing changes

Your current Autism Funding continues exactly as it is.

● 31 MAR 2027

The Autism Funding Program closes. Families are told their eligibility for what comes next before this date.

Autism Funding ends

● 1 APR 2027

Disability Benefit begins

$6,500 or $17,000 a year depending on assessed need, for children and youth to age 19.

● JUL 2027

Disability Supplement

Income-tested, up to $6,000 a year, for families holding the federal Disability Tax Credit.

Three things worth knowing

  • Eligibility is based on need, not diagnosis.

Some children qualify automatically; others are assessed. The assessment is arranged by the province at no cost to families.

  • You still choose your own providers.

Direct funding continues, and families decide who delivers their child’s support.

  • Not everyone will qualify for the benefit.

Families who don’t may be eligible for the income-tested Supplement, or for expanded community services.

Not sure where this leaves you?

Talk it through with us. You don’t need to be a Bloom family to ask — if we can point you somewhere better, we will.
